ITINERARY
Thursday, November 26th
Happy Thanksgiving! Arrive at The Davenport and Towers, built in 1914 and after a $40 million renovation, it has been named by Conde Nast Traveller as “2008 Gold List of the World's Finest Hotels” and Expedia has named it one of the “Top 10 Hotels in the US”. Tonight, Thanksgiving Dinner at the hotel, prepared by top culinary chefs. You'll taste why the hotel and restaurant again received a 5 Star rating.
Friday, November 27th
Start with a private breakfast and strolling entertainment at Clinkerdaggers, located in the historic Flour Mill, overlooking the Spokane Falls. There will also be drawings for prizes, including gift certificates for shopping afterward in the Flour Mill shops. After shopping, travel to Cat Tales Zoological Park, home to over 40 exotic and endangered big cats. On the guided tour, learn about the cats' history and how they get there and walk within 8 feet of lions, tigers and a leopard - “Oh My!” Next, it's off to shop! A “Canadians Welcome!” gift bag will be given to you for special discounts from River Park Square, the Northtown Mall.
Tonight, come to the INB Preforming Arts Center (formally the Opera House) for “Disney's the Lion King”, the Tony-winning spectacle based on the animated movie. In 2005, this show ran in Spokane for 6 weeks at about 98 percent capacity!
Saturday, November 28th
Start with a tour of the Davenport, then your step-on guide will take you through the city and Historic Browne's Addition, pointing out other buildings and mansions designed by Kirtland Cutter, who was the architect for the Davenport Hotel. Next, tour through the beautiful gothic style, St. John's Cathedral (if no wedding booked), then up to the Conservatory at Manito Park. The thousands of flowers will give you a brief feeling of summer again! See the Spokane Falls on the way to the Crosbyanna Room at Gonzaga University, where Bing's Oscar's, gold records and other memorabilia can be seen. (time 2 ½ hours). Rest of the day is free for your shopping adventure.
Option: Instead of the city tour, Go to Riverfront Park, ride the Carrousel, then go on the skyride over the falls. And/or, go to Carr's “One of a Kind Museum” with one of a kind things of everything you can think of.
Tonight, travel to Lake Coeur d’Alene for the Holiday Lights Show. Board the cruise boat and cruise out to see over 100,000 twinkling lights and 30 illuminated, moving scenes. Cruise over to see Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Santa’s workshop. There will also be time to wander through the resort to see the thousands of poinsettias and the Christmas decorations. Return to the hotel after the cruise.
Option: Add dinner along the way, at the Hot Rod Cafe' filled with vintage automobiles and great food. Cost:$23.00 inclusive with salad, 2 entree choices (beef and chicken), dessert and beverage.
Sunday, November 29th
Return home.
